We are a multidisciplinary team of user experience practitioners, including research, design, and content. Content design is a distinct team within the greater design organization.

We build useful, usable, and innovative experiences for Zillow customers. These experiences live across web, mobile, and internal software platforms.

About the role

As a senior content designer, you’re responsible for content across an entire area of business. Content designers play an integral role in the design process by providing strategic direction and crafting outstanding content for consumers and business partners.

You’ll also collaborate with an experienced team. Every content designer reports to a content design manager, who supports your growth and development. Team members share work and provide helpful guidance to one another, define inclusive content principles, and contribute to improving content quality.

Responsibilities

  • Develop content strategy for digital experiences on websites, apps, emails, voice and chat experiences, and support materials
  • Write clear, concise, compelling content for different audiences and use cases
  • Work closely with product managers, researchers, product designers, and engineers
  • Propose, test, and evaluate ideas that improve Zillow customer experiences
  • Participate in design activities like journey mapping, co-design sessions, prototyping, design critique, and user testing
  • Present content design work and regularly engage with partners for feedback
  • Advocate for customer needs and inclusive language throughout the design process
  • Lead multiple projects independently and deliver high-quality work on time
  • Contribute, learn, grow, and have fun

This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice which must be identified to the Company. Employees may live in any of the 50 US States, with limited exceptions. In certain cases, an employee in a remote-designated job may need to live in a specific region or time zone to support customers or clients as part of their role.

In Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada and New York City the standard base pay range for this role is $133,200.00 – $212,800.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada and New York City and may not be applicable to other locations.

In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.

Who you are

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • 5+ years as a content designer, product content strategist, or similar role
  • Experience working optimally with diverse, cross-functional product teams
  • Experience developing ideas, strategies, frameworks, and words that get meaningful results for customers and business
  • Experience presenting strategies to partners and advocating for user needs
  • Experience translating hard-to-understand concepts into clear, user-friendly language
  • Experience with A/B testing, usability testing, and other methods of evaluating quality
  • Experience developing standards, processes, and guidelines to help teams do better work
  • Experience providing content mentorship to help others meet content quality standards
  • Experience making effective decisions and managing multiple projects at once
  • Expertise with content strategy, product narrative, and information architecture
  • Expertise with writing, voice and tone development, and standards for inclusive content
  • Examples of critical thinking, creativity, risk-taking, and problem solving in design projects
